Prof. Rosokha’s project “Halogen Bonding between Organic Acceptors and Transition-Metal Complexes” provides an opportunity for RU students to participate in fundamental research in chemistry with potential applications in material and pharmaceutical sciences.
Research will be carried out on the Schaumburg campus on Thursdays and/or Fridays. You will get experience in synthesis, spectral, electro-chemical and structural studies and enhance your knowledge of structure and reactivity. This work will provide a chance to publish a scientific paper, to make presentations at scientific conference and to enhance your resume. Also, this is an excellent way to earn money on campus in a job related to your major.
2 positions are available for undergraduate students and 1 position is available for graduate students on a competitive basis.
QUALIFICATION: GPA > 3.1, at least one semester of Organic Chemistry with a “B” or better, previous research laboratory experience in synthesis and spectral measurements is preferred.
TIME COMMITMENT: 8-17 hour/week.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT: $9-$10/hour (depending on qualification). Tuition remission is also possible contingent on substantial commitment to the project.
TO APPLY: Please contact Prof. Sergiy Rosokha at firstname.lastname@example.org. In the e-mail, indicate chemistry coursework completed, institution where course was completed, and grade. Graduate students should include courses taken at undergraduate and graduate levels. Also, indicate how much time you are available per week to work on the project.
